Playing with beginners: five habits to keep
A few simple habits so that a first game makes people want a second one.
The first scene should start in the middle of the action: a door slamming, a question left unanswered.
Start with the action
Ask each player what their character does best, then give them an immediate chance to show it.
A good scenario fits on one page: a situation, a few characters who want opposing things, and a place where everything can tip over. The rest is played at the table.
We will soon publish more play aids on the same subject. To miss nothing, join us on Discord or subscribe to the newsletter.
We designed these rules to step aside for the story: few tables to look up, choices that matter, and failures that move the game forward.
